FC Barcelona: Deco pays a heartfelt tribute to Ronald Araujo

Barça sporting director Deco paid tribute to Ronald Araujo in a recent interview.

With Ronald Araujo's return to the squad, Barça continues to impress in La Liga and looks ready to challenge Real Madrid all the way to the end of the season. Sporting director Deco is reportedly delighted with the recent performances from Hansi Flick’s men across every competition.

Speaking to Sport, he expressed his full satisfaction, discussing the Blaugrana dressing room case by case. Ronald Araujo was at the heart of the discussion, following his difficult period in Catalonia and his unexpected break from action.

"Maybe in the past, we didn’t talk about these things. I think we all go through tough times in life, each in our own way. In Ronald’s case, what’s essential for me is to highlight that when someone has a problem, simply acknowledging it and asking for help means you’ve already covered 50% of the journey. Most people don’t have that ability. We’ve seen cases of well-known athletes who couldn’t overcome depression or other issues and ended up leaving the sport. That’s why I take my hat off to him. He had the courage to say, 'I’m not doing well, I need help, and I’m going to fix it.'" Deco revealed.

He then showed a genuine desire to continue the season with Ronald Araujo: "Honestly, I was very positively surprised in that regard. It’s like a player who’s been injured: he recovers, gets back to training, and is available again. I’m very happy for him. He’s a player we need, but beyond football and everything else, the most important thing is that he’s well."
