FC Bayern Women’s final game of 2025 is also the first of the second half of the Bundesliga season as they visit Bayer Leverkusen for Matchday 14 on Monday. Kick-off at the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion is at 18:00 CET. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game in our preview.

Latest news from Bayern

Bayern reached the halfway mark of the Bundesliga campaign last Sunday with a 6-0 win at home to Hamburg thanks to goals from Giulia Gwinn, Georgia Stanway, Klara Bühl, Pernille Harder and Lea Schüller, plus an own goal for the fourth of the game.

There was more good news during the week as José Barcala’s side beat Valerenga 3-0 at home in the final game of the league phase in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, ensuring a top-four finish and automatic progress to the quarter-finals in the new year. Momoko Tanikawa, Stine Ballisager and Harder again netted the goals at the FC Bayern Campus. The Munich Frauen will now face either Manchester United or Atlético Madrid in the last eight.

Opponent: Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen come into Matchday 14 in fifth place on 22 points, but results haven’t been ideal of late, winning only one of the last five in all competitions. That came at home to RB Leipzig (3-2) at the start of the month, losing the other four, most recently 1-0 against Werder Bremen. The Werkself were also eliminated from the DFB Cup on penalties by HSV in November.

Bayern lead the head-to-head record with 25 wins out of 29 meetings, losing just three and seeing one draw. The sides met in the season’s opening match, with Bayern winning 2-0 in front of a record crowd of 57,762 at the Allianz Arena.

Team news

Bayern remain without Sarah Zadrazil and Lena Oberdorf after their cruciate ligament injuries. Defenders Gwinn and Glódis Viggósdóttir are both ill and will miss out. Goalkeeper Mala Grohs is fit again after sitting out the Champions League game after going over her ankle in training.

Pre-match quotes

José Barcala: “We expect a very competitive match against Bayer Leverkusen, a team that is really intense in high pressing and dangerous in transitions. For us, the focus is on maintaining our defensive intensity and coordination for 90 minutes, and keep our consistency with the ball, controlling the game and being clinical in the final third. The players are prepared and we want to show our identity from the first minute with maximum respect to our opponent.”

Carolin Simon: “We saw in the first half of the season that Leverkusen are a really good team. They can make life really tough for you, as we saw in the reverse fixture. We’re definitely well prepared for tomorrow and know what to expect. We’ll go into the game fully focused, know our strengths and will hopefully show them on the pitch. If we manage that and we end the year with a win, we can be really proud of the last six months.”

Pernille Harder and Magdalena Eriksson both signed new contracts with Bayern this week:
