FC Bayern Women have confirmed their first new arrival for next season with the signing of Kassandra Potsi. The 17-year-old forward will move to the Bavarian capital from Essen in the summer. Potsi has signed a contract until 30 June 2029 with the German double winners.
Francisco De Sá Fardilha, FC Bayern Women sporting director: “We’ve kept a close eye on Kassandra over the last two seasons. She’s another outstanding example of Essen’s excellent youth development. Kassandra has impressed us with her pace and technical ability on the ball as well as her determination out of possession. She’s brave under pressure, can hold her own against top teams and fits perfectly into our philosophy of giving the most talented young German players the chance to continue their development in our team.”
Kassandra Potsi: “I’m really happy about this move. It’s a special moment for me personally as I know I’m now getting the chance to prove myself in a first-class environment and in one of the best teams in Europe. I want to take the next step in Munich and develop both as a player and person. My aim is to quickly slot in and support the team. I’m really excited for everything that’s in store for me here and will do my best to contribute to the team’s success.”
Potsi, who was born on 12 January 2008 in Velbert, North Rhine-Westphalia, began her football career in her hometown before joining Essen in 2018. The Germany U19 international progressed through all the age groups in the academy there. On 29 January 2024, at the age of 16, the attacker made her competitive debut for the first team in the 3-1 defeat against Wolfsburg. Having represented Germany at U15, U16 and U17 level, Potsi made her debut for the country’s U19 side last month.
