According to Globo.com, Luiz Felipe Scolari, the 2002 World Cup winning former Brazil coach and now a Grêmio director, addressed the national squad at Granja Comary on Thursday at Carlo Ancelotti’s invitation.
The players had reported across Wednesday to the training centre in Teresópolis, and he spoke to them during training.
In his address he stressed that a team is formed by the whole staff, urged acceptance of Ancelotti’s leadership, open dialogue, and mutual accountability within the group.
A seasoned motivational speaker, he often discusses leadership, loyalty, decisions under pressure, and the management of pain and family support. He also reflected on the privilege and difficulty of representing the Seleção, from lifting the 2002 title to the 7-1 defeat by Germany in the 2014 semi-final.
He told the squad they have the possibility to be world champions, urged them to close ranks, and reminded them they were chosen from an elite group to serve Brazil and each other.
Scolari had previously welcomed Ancelotti at his CBF presentation a year ago, handing the Italian a Brazil shirt during a ceremony at a hotel in Barra da Tijuca.
