One player who is certain to leave Manchester City this summer is Kyle Walker. The England international wasn’t included in Manchester City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. He also spent the second half of the 24/25 season on loan at AC Milan. Ekrem Konur has previously reported on X, that AC Milan will not be signing Walker on a permanent basis this summer. Based on all of that information, it is unclear where Walker would play next season. Now a new report indicates that Turkish club Fenerbahce has an interest in signing Walker this summer. That may be the best move for the England international this summer.
Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has reported on X that Kyle Walker has demanded a two-year contract to sign for Fenerbahce. Furthermore, Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that Fenerbahce have begun negotiations with Kyle Walker’s agent. Lastly, Sabuncuoğlu reports that Manchester City will allow their former captain to leave the club if he can agree on personal terms with the Turkish club.
It has been apparent since January that Kyle Walker has played his last game at Manchester City. His loan move to AC Milan confirmed that particular detail of his City career. At his peak, Walker was one of Manchester City’s most important players, and he was integral to their run of four consecutive Premier League titles and winning every other major trophy that was available. But his form at the beginning of the 24/25 season tapered off dramatically. He lost a yard of pace, and all of the attributes that helped make him one of the Premier League’s greatest ever right-backs had diminished.
It was expected that Kyle Walker’s move to AC Milan would be made permanent this summer. But that move will not be happening. Perhaps a move to Fenerbahce could be the ideal move for Walker. He could still play at a decent level in the twilight years of his career. Kyle Walker’s best football is behind him, but he could become a solid contributor for a team like Fenerbahce if a move to Turkey does eventuate for him.
Whatever happens during the summer transfer window, Kyle Walker will not be a Manchester City player come the end of it. That’s been obvious for some time now it’s just a matter of where Walker will play next season that needs to be resolved.
