Fenerbahçe open talks to sign Ajax defender Ahmetcan Kaplan | OneFootball

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Süper Lig giants Fenerbahçe have entered negotiations to sign out-of-favour Ajax youngster Ahmetcan Kaplan. The 21-year-old centre-back has been limited to just six first-team appearances so far this season, four of those coming in the Eredivisie.

Ahmetcan Kaplan joined Ajax from Trabzonspor in the summer of 2022, with the Dutch giants paying nearly €10m for the defender. In the last two-and-a-half years, the Türkiye youth international has made just 19 first-team appearances. Ajax will be aware of his potential, but a move for more game time would clearly benefit the player at this stage in his career.

Injuries have also affected Kaplan’s journey in Amsterdam, with several spells missed in recent years due to different issues. Transfermarkt currently values Kaplan at €6m. It’s unknown whether Fenerbahçe want to sign the player on a permanent or temporary basis, but Ajax are likely to listen to any offers received.
