Italian Serie A fans are now approaching the half way point of the current 2025/26 campaign and although AS Roma have had a slight wobble of late, the loyal supporters of I Giallorossi will be very pleased to see the current league position as Gian Piero Gasperini more than has his first team charges in the mix for the title battle.Despite three losses in the last six domestic fixtures, Monday evening’s clash against Como at the Stadio Olimpico resulted in a 1-0 victory and ensured that the side continue to occupy fourth place in the top flight table, sitting just three points off Inter Milan who are sat in top spot – those three defeats have been hugely frustrating on that front. With the Christmas break and the New Year approaching though, fans who occupy their spare time with online gaming and use Bitcoin casino across UK will have some extra time on their hands, but naturally the speculation rumour mill has kicked into a higher gear and there are two main stories doing the rounds in the media as Roma look for a strong finish to the year and do all that they can to chase down top spot and the title. The first concerns the future of on loan Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, and the second the long linked potential interest that is held in Manchester United talent Joshua Zirkzee.Meeting with the media prior to kick off against Como, Roma director Ricky Massara was questioned about both topics with the January transfer window approaching and he whilst he insisted that it was way too early to discuss the potential future of the 21 year old, 26 capped Republic of Ireland international Ferguson, he was more coy on 24 year old and six capped Netherlands international Zirkzee, brushing off all the questions as best as he could. With Ferguson recently scoring a brace for the side in the Europa League in the clash with Scottish giants Celtic at Parkhead, everyone will be hoping that he now shows some real signs of the talent that he holds and begins to get himself into some more consistent goal scoring form. That naturally led to some questions on whether or not Roma were looking at the 38 million Euro buy clause that is held, particularly given the speculation suggesting we would cut his spell with us short given his lack of impact so far and the injury issues that he has been struggling with.Denying that the cancellation rumours had come from the club, Massara stated that they were happy with Ferguson but obviously he needed to find and show better consistency moving forward, and he was confident that the youngster would do just that now.Given his recent trips to London and the assumption it was Zirkzee related, Massara dismissed that line of questioning stating that the trips were in light of the clashes with both Rangers and Celtic, saying that January talk was also ‘premature’ and that Roma’s full focus was on the remaining three final games of the year before attentions fully turned to the window.Fans eager to see the side strengthen will not have to wait too long at all now and then we see what happens and how it effects the remainder of the campaign.
