FIFA’s inspection team has arrived in Madrid as the 2030 World Cup venue tour continues, with València still hoping to join Spain’s hosting list alongside Portugal and Morocco.

According to Superdeporte, RFEF president Rafael Louzán welcomed the delegation in Madrid and expressed confidence that the centenary tournament will be successfully staged with Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

The tour began in Barcelona on Monday, then moved to Zaragoza to review the La Romareda project with local authorities.

Louzán has talked up València’s chances, saying the city would have the country’s most modern stadium.

RFEF international relations director Eduard Dervishaj said the visits mix technical checks with meetings to plan venue selection. He noted FIFA rules restrict visits to bid-listed sites for now, without closing the door to others.

He added the federation wants more Spanish venues and believes some cities could meet FIFA requirements after pending work, keeping València in contention as Nou Mestalla is targeted for summer 2027.

There is no deadline yet for final venue selection, and RFEF is leading preparations.

Spain formed national working groups on the fifth covering security, infrastructure, transport, technology, team accommodation and institutional coordination.

The initial dossier listed 11 stadiums in nine cities. Málaga has withdrawn, while Vigo and València seek inclusion in the final line-up.
