Filipe Luís has said goodbye to Flamengo after being dismissed in the wake of the 8-0 win over Madureira, posting a farewell message on Tuesday night. The coach said in a post that he leaves in peace, with his head held high and a clear conscience, and he thanked the club.
He spoke of eternal respect for his players and took his leave at the Ninho do Urubu in the afternoon, a meeting that left him and some squad members emotional. He also thanked supporters, having come under pressure late on and heard insults during his final match at the Maracanã.
In a follow-up, he shared a photo at the Garotos do Ninho memorial beside the plaque naming the 10 teenagers who died in the 2019 training ground fire, with a message that they would never be forgotten.
Filipe departs after 101 matches and a 69.9% return, with 63 wins, 23 draws and 15 defeats, five of them in 2026.
He leaves as the club’s second most successful coach, level with Jorge Jesus and Flávio Costa on five trophies, namely the 2024 Copa do Brasil, the 2025 Supercopa, the 2025 Carioca, the 2025 Libertadores and the 2025 Brasileirão.
This was his first coaching role. He started with the under-17s in March 2024 after retiring and won the Copa Rio, then moved to the under-20s in June, winning the category’s world title. On 30 September he was appointed to the first team to replace Tite.
