Filipe Luis, 40, is set to be named AS Monaco head coach in the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He is expected to sign a two-year deal to June 2028 and bring two assistants.
Monaco moved after confirming the departure of Sébastien Pocognoli. Luis would be tasked with reviving a project that faltered this season, with the club finishing 7th in Ligue 1.
The Brazilian has been chosen for an attacking, possession-focused approach and his track record in developing young players. He has never coached in Europe, yet was courted by Chelsea, Strasbourg, Besiktas, Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen.
At Flamengo he lifted five trophies in 2024 and 2025, including the 2024 Brazilian Cup, the 2025 Brazilian Super Cup, the 2025 Carioca championship, the 2025 Brazilian championship and the 2025 Copa Libertadores.
His record with Flamengo was 63 wins, 23 draws and 15 defeats. He was dismissed by the club in March. A former Atletico Madrid left-back, Luis won 44 Brazil caps and scored two goals, and he hails from Jaragua do Sul.
