Crysencio Summerville’s Leeds United future has been in doubt for some time now, with French behemoths PSG the latest top European side to be linked with a move for the Dutchman this summer.

The 22-year-old was one of the standout performers in the Championship in the last campaign, with 28 goal contributions for Daniel Farke’s side as they lost out in the playoff final to Southampton at Wembley.

That defeat has seen the Whites needing to part with plenty of their top talent to balance the books this summer, with Archie Gray the latest to depart the club after sealing a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Summerville still looks likely to follow his teammate out the Elland Road exit door this summer, with the French Champions joining the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in their pursuit of the former Feyenoord man.

Crysencio Summerville lined up as Kylian Mbappe replacement for PSG

PSG will have the choice of the majority of players across the continent - if not he world - in their search for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe this summer, so the fact they have earmarked Summerville as a top target speaks volumes.

The £1.3 million signing for Feyenoord has constantly bamboozled Championship defences over the past 12 months, with his fleet-footedness and ability to find the back of the net on a regular basis underlining his potential to feature for one of Europe’s top clubs in the future.

But the move to the French giants could be a step too far for the Dutchman this summer, according to Football League World's Leeds fan pundit, Kris Smith, with the forward having massive boots to fill if he did move to the Ligue 1 side.

Smith said: “PSG being interested isn’t at all a shock to me, the issue that he has though with PSG looking at him as a marquee winger signing, is that he is going to have to fill the shoes of Kylian Mbappe, and that’s an impossible task really.

“Summerville for me has no doubt got the talent and current ability to be a hit at somewhere like PSG - or any other elite club that is needing a winger - but post-Mbappe PSG is a completely different story in terms of the expectation from their fanbase.

“I find it hard to see how he would be an outright success right away there.”

Crysencio Summerville tipped for move to top side after outstanding Leeds United campaign

Although the move to France could be seen as a step too far, too soon for Summerville in the coming weeks, Smith isn’t ruling out a move to a top side this summer.

The Dutchman has consistently proven himself to be a nuisance for all manner of defenders during his time at Elland Road, with his coming of age seeing an improvement in his all-round game as a result.

That maturity will set him up for a top career in the future, according to Smith, who believes the 23/24 campaign saw the 22-year-old turn into a superstar in front of the Yorkshire folk’s eyes.

The Leeds fan continued: “Having watched Summerville break into our side as a youngster, he looked very quickly like he was destined to go very far in the game, but last season in the Championship brought a lot more maturity to how he played.

“Previously, he was quite erratic with his finishing, snatching at shots and not really looking clinical.

“But under Daniel Farke - I’m not sure whether it’s the manager or something Summerville has done - he has just refined himself considerably in front of goal, and he does really look the real deal and ready for a big move now.

“Unfortunately for Leeds, that means he is likely going to leave us because he is too good for the Championship - he was too good for the Championship last season - and frankly he’s probably too good for a lower-mid-table team in the Premier League.”
