Finalissima Spain vs Argentina ‘to be played’ at Bernabeu | OneFootball

The Finalissima between Spain and Argentina is expected to be moved from Doha to Real Madrid’s Bernabeu on 27 March, AS reports.

The match had been scheduled for Doha, but the switch is being pursued because of the situation in Qatar, which has been targeted by Iranian retaliatory missile strikes. Backup options in Rome, London and Milan were considered before Madrid emerged.

Staging the game in the Spanish capital would hand Spain home advantage. Final arrangements are being worked through, including security, and the date is set to stay the same.

The logistics are complicated by Morocco facing Ecuador at the Wanda Metropolitano on the same day. The test is one Spain is keen to meet as it looks to showcase its organisation before the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted with Portugal and Morocco.

The Bernabeu has handled a late relocation of this scale before. In December 2018 it hosted the Copa Libertadores second leg between Boca Juniors and River Plate after violent incidents in Buenos Aires at the first leg.
