Real Madrid have completed the sale of Nico Paz to Como, but the agreement ensures the Spanish giants still retain a significant level of control over one of their brightest academy graduates.

After days of negotiations involving multiple clubs, Como have won the race for the Argentine midfielder.

While Inter Milan remained interested throughout the process, the Serie A side managed by Cesc Fabregas ultimately convinced both the player and Real Madrid to move forward with a permanent transfer.

Now, fresh details have emerged regarding the structure of the agreement, revealing an important clause that will give Real Madrid some control over the player’s future.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Real Madrid have negotiated a new buy-back option worth €80 million, although it comes with a strict deadline.

The buy-back clause comes with major condition

The deal also includes a substantial sell-on clause in favour of Real Madrid, ensuring the Spanish club continue to benefit financially from the midfielder’s future.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of the agreement is the new buy-back clause.

Real Madrid will have the opportunity to re-sign Paz for €80 million, which is substantially more than their previous agreement, during the summer of 2027.

However, that option will only remain active for that transfer window.

If the club decide not to activate the clause before it expires, they will permanently lose the right to bring the Argentine back under those agreed conditions, giving Como full control over the player’s future.

Notably, the negotiations were completed after decisive work from Cesc Fabregas and Como president Mirwan Suwarso, while Paz himself also approved the move.

The midfielder’s future attracted considerable attention throughout the summer.

Real Madrid initially exercised their original €9 million buy-back option before opening fresh negotiations with Como over a permanent transfer that would still protect the club’s long-term interests.

Inter Milan monitored the situation closely and were prepared to enter discussions if Como failed to reach an agreement.

Reports suggested the Nerazzurri were willing to consider a deal worth around €70 million had the opportunity become available.

Ultimately, however, Como emerged victorious.
