FC Barcelona agreed with Palmeiras on the transfer of Vitor Roque for €25.5 million, with an additional €5 million in performance-based bonuses, securing 80% of the player’s rights.

The 20-year-old already completed the transfer on February 28 – the last day of the Brazilian transfer window and has already linked up with his new club.

Following the completion of the deal, more details about the operation are coming to light.

Details of the 20% rights

As mentioned earlier, Barcelona parted ways with only 80% of Vitor Roque’s sights to Palmeiras, while retaining 20%.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, there are specific clauses concerning the remaining 20%.

if Palmeiras sell the 20-year-old centre-forward during the five-year contract that he has signed with the Brazilian club, Barcelona could receive 20% of the transfer fee, which would be expected.

However, there is also a scenario where they might only receive 10%.

Indeed, the agreement between both clubs stipulates that if Palmeiras sell Tigrinho for less than €30 million, Barcelona will receive only 10% of the sale.

However, if the transfer fee reaches €30 million or more, the Blaugrana will be entitled to 20% of the player’s transfer value.

Break-up of the €5 million bonuses

Regarding the €5 million in performance-based bonuses that Barcelona negotiated with Palmeiras, they can be activated by completing some objectives but as things stand, they appear challenging to fulfil.

Barcelona would receive €2 million if Vitor Roque is named one of the top three players in the Club World Cup next summer.

Another €2 million would be awarded if the Brazilian international is among the three finalists for the Ballon d’Or.

The final €1 million bonus is tied to Palmeiras winning an international title within the next five seasons.
