Roma fought back from a goal down to beat Fiorentina 2-1 in Florence on Sunday afternoon, with goals from Matias Soulé and Bryan Cristante sealing the three points.
Italian forward Moise Kean put the hosts up in 14 minutes but by the half-hour mark, Roma were in front. The Giallorossi defended resolutely to cling on to all three points after a disappointing midweek defeat to Lille at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini provided updates after the match, explaining why Evan Ferguson was absent and praising his team’s performance, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Ferguson had an ankle issue on Thursday and still isn’t fully fit,” Gasperini revealed in his post-match press conference, confirming the striker’s absence and highlighting the solid display of replacement Artem Dovbyk, who assisted Matias Soulé for the equaliser.
“We played well against a strong side. It was important to come from behind for the first time this season,” Gasperini continued. “Defensively we were clear-headed, and in attack we could have done even better, but the result is very positive.”

The coach also singled out Soulé for praise: “He’s improving a lot – he has a great left foot and becomes even more dangerous when closer to goal.”
Finally, Gasperini applauded Paulo Dybala’s calming influence: “When he has the ball, we’re confident it won’t be lost.”
