Serie A top-four hopefuls Fiorentina are reportedly considering an audacious January swoop for Liverpool outcast Federico Chiesa. According to TMW, Raffaele Palladino’s men could offer their former star an escape route from Anfield.

Chiesa swapped Juventus for Liverpool last summer after failing to sign a new contract in Turin. However, his career in the Premier League has started with a whimper rather than a bang. Recurring injury problems have hindered his progress in England.

With Arne Slot boasting a wealth of attacking options, the Reds could be open to letting Chiesa return to Serie A in the coming weeks. Fiorentina would welcome him back with open arms, but there’s a catch. The 27-year-old’s substantial €7 million wages pose a challenge for La Viola.

Fiorentina would only agree to re-sign Chiesa if Liverpool take care of a large portion of his salary. Yet, there’s no doubt the Italian winger would be a massive coup for Palladino’s side now that they have realistic chances of securing UEFA Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile, Napoli misfit Michael Folorunsho could join Fiorentina on loan in the coming days. After falling out of favor at Stadio Diego Maradona, the Italian midfielder is keen on joining La Viola to get his faltering career back on track.

But that may not be the only piece of business between these two clubs this winter. Indeed, Fiorentina could send unsettled stalwart Cristiano Biraghi to Naples in exchange for Leonardo Spinazzola. Given both players’ current status, it would be a win-win deal.
