Fiorentina to appoint World Cup winner Grosso on two-year deal after Sassuolo exit | OneFootball

Fiorentina are on the verge of appointing Fabio Grosso as their new head coach, with contracts understood to have been approved and a formal announcement expected imminently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 2006 World Cup winner will sign a two-year deal with an option for a third season, bringing to a close his tenure at Sassuolo following the Neroverdi’s relegation to Serie B.

According to Calciomercato.com, Fiorentina’s pursuit of Grosso actually began back in March, with an informal agreement reached to revisit the conversation once Sassuolo’s fate was decided.

Grosso reunites with Paratici as Fiorentina plan summer rebuild under new coach

The appointment represents a reunion with sporting director Fabio Paratici, who gave Grosso his first coaching opportunity in Juventus’s youth academy. The pair now link up again at senior level for the first time since those early days.

In terms of playing style, Grosso is expected to continue with a 4-3-3 system similar to what Paolo Vanoli implemented in the second half of the season, though a significant summer rebuild is anticipated.

Sassuolo’s Armand Laurienté has been mentioned as a potential left-flank target, with Manor Solomon’s loan from Tottenham not expected to be made permanent.
