Joan Laporta swept through the Barcelona presidential election to reinstate his position as the Barcelona president, beating Victor Font by a comfortable margin in the process.
Laporta won more than two-thirds of the vote, as he was able to maintain support from the first-team players, including Lamine Yamal.
After a night of celebration at the legendary Luz de Gas venue, the newly elected president has set a frantic pace for his first week back at the helm of Barça, reports SPORT.
While Laporta will not officially become the Barcelona president until July 1, his involvement in the day-to-day operations will be immediate.
He is scheduled to visit the club offices this Tuesday to meet with the current president and his close friend, Rafa Yuste.
The two leaders plan to coordinate a period of cohabitation to manage critical end-of-season tasks, including closing the financial year and finalising the first-team squads for the 2026/27 campaign.

This collaboration ensures that Laporta will be a decisive voice in the VIP box alongside Yuste for this Wednesday’s high-stakes Champions League clash against Newcastle United.
Laporta’s first priority is to stabilise and encourage the sporting area. He is expected to visit the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training complex this Tuesday to meet with Hansi Flick and the players.
He wants to thank the squad for their public support during the election and to provide a morale boost ahead of the match against Newcastle.
The week will conclude with a symbolic trip to Amsterdam on Saturday for the premiere of a Johan Cruyff documentary.
Invited by Jordi Cruyff, the visit comes just days before the tenth anniversary of the Dutch legend’s passing.
