Five Bayern players lead Germany to World Cup warm-up win

Germany beat Finland 4-0 on Sunday night in their penultimate warm-up match before the World Cup, with five Bayern players involved. Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Pavlović and Jamal Musiala all played the full 90 minutes in Mainz, while Lennart Karl got 73 minutes under his belt. Captain Kimmich and Karl both set up goals for Deniz Undav, while Musiala got the fourth of the game from a Pavlović assist. Florian Wirtz had made it 2-0 shortly after half-time.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team travel to the USA on Tuesday and will face the co-hosts in Chicago on Saturday (20:30 CEST). Their first group game of the World Cup is against Curaçao in Houston on Sunday, 14 June (19:00 CEST).

Senegal beaten by US

Senegal also played a warm-up before their World Cup campaign. Bayern loanee Nicolas Jackson featured for the first 59 minutes against the USA in Charlotte, while Bara Sapoko Ndiaye didn’t feature. Sergino Dest and Christian Pulisic put the USMNT ahead inside 20 minutes, before ex-Bayern man Sadio Mané levelled with goals either side of half-time. Folarin Balogun scored the winner for the World Cup co-hosts just after the hour mark. Senegal have another friendly against Saudi Arabia on 10 June before kicking off their World Cup against France on 16 June.
