Argentina have released a provisional 55-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, featuring only two players from Brazilian clubs, Agustín Giay and Flaco López, both of Palmeiras. Lionel Scaloni’s side have not yet set the date for the official call-up.
According to Globo.com, Lionel Messi and De Paul, both at Inter Miami, are the representatives of US clubs. The No 10 could become one of the first to play at six World Cups, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Guillermo Ochoa also able to reach that mark this year.
Argentina are in Group J with Algeria, Austria and Jordan. They open on 16 June against Algeria. Austria follow on 22 June, then Jordan five days later.
Squad announcements began on Monday with Bosnia’s list.
Qualified teams have until early June to submit 26 players to Fifa. On two June the organisation will release the full squads for all 48 nations.
