Flamengo’s return to Rio de Janeiro has been delayed after their 2-0 win over Cusco in the Libertadores opener, with the squad remaining in Peru following a late change to travel plans.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the delegation left Cusco on Thursday morning, 9 April, bound for Arequipa as an initial stop, with the early leg in line with the original plan, though the subsequent departure was altered.

The team had been due to leave Arequipa at 13:15 Brasília time and land in Brazil late on Thursday afternoon. The itinerary was revised, and arrival is now expected at night at Galeão Airport in Rio.

Flamengo typically use charter flights during the season. Cusco’s airport cannot accommodate such aircraft, so the team must exit Peru via Arequipa.

On Wednesday, 8 April, Flamengo beat Cusco 2-0, with goals from Bruno Henrique and Arrascaeta. The result put them top of Group A on three points, ahead of Independiente Medellín and Estudiantes, who drew 1-1, with Cusco on zero.

Despite the quick turnaround, Flamengo are set to face Fluminense in the Brasileirão on Saturday, 11 April, at the Maracanã. Kick-off is 18:30 Brasília time.
