Lucas Paquetá suffered a left thigh injury against Japan and will continue his recovery with Brazil’s medical staff, with Flamengo monitoring the process. According to Coluna Do Fla, the CBF informed the club after imaging results and both agreed rehabilitation would begin within the national team set-up.

Had the issue required surgery or been more serious, Flamengo would have requested his immediate return to take charge of the plan. Even from afar, the club’s medical department is tracking each step.

Regardless of when Brazil leave the World Cup, Paquetá will remain with the squad throughout. On returning to the club, he and all players involved in the tournament are due a 10-day break.

Once back, he will be assessed in person. Despite important fixtures in the second half of the year, Flamengo do not intend to rush any recoveries, aiming to keep the group available through to the end of the season.

The Flamengo academy graduate was hurt early against Japan after a challenge, immediately clutching his left thigh, yet he played on. In the closing minutes of the first half he asked to come off and needed help to leave the pitch, with Endrick replacing the number 20 after the interval.

Brazil face Norway in the last 16 on Sunday at 17:00 Brasília time in New Jersey, United States. The match will be shown on Rede Globo and SBT, and streamed on NSports, CazéTV and GETV.
