Flamengo prepare for Recopa, Filipe Luís weighs XI, club backs Vini Jr | OneFootball

Flamengo are stepping up for their Recopa Sudamericana opener against Lanús, with Filipe Luís set to settle his starting side in Wednesday's session in Argentina.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the initial likely XI comprises Rossi in goal, a back four of Emerson Royal, Léo Pereira, Léo Ortiz and Alex Sandro, a midfield of Pulgar, Evertton Araújo and Lucas Paquetá, with Arrascaeta and Everton Cebolinha supporting Pedro. The selection will be confirmed after Wednesday's workout.

On Tuesday 17, Vini Jr faced racist abuse during a Champions League fixture, and Flamengo posted support, stressing he is not alone and that it is painful to see someone attacked simply for who they are. Benfica lost 1-0 on the night.

In the Carioca, Flamengo booked a semi-final place on Sunday 15 by beating Botafogo 2-1. They will face Madureira, with both legs to be staged at the Maracanã after an agreement between Madureira president Elias Duba and Flamengo chief Luiz Eduardo Baptista.

The first leg of the Recopa is on Thursday 19, when Flamengo begin their bid for a second crown.
