Flamengo’s Erick Pulgar rejects Chile call-up before World Cup | OneFootball

Erick Pulgar has turned down another Chile call-up, with coach Nicolás Córdova indicating personal reasons for his decision.

According to Radio DNA, the 32-year-old is not convinced by the national team’s current process, and would prefer to return when there is a definitive project and official competitions.

Chile finished bottom of South American qualifying, so they will not be at the World Cup, which begins on 11. The latest squad is for warm-up games, with Chile set to act as sparring partners for Portugal and Congo, who are in Group K. The first match is on Saturday in Lisbon, kick-off 14:45 Brasília time.

Pulgar has not featured for Chile in 2024. He had the chance to return in March but declined, aiming to fully recover from an injury at Flamengo.

Brazil have called Danilo, Lucas Paquetá, Alex Sandro and Léo Pereira for the World Cup. Uruguay have De La Cruz, Varela and Arrascaeta, Colombia selected Jorge Carrascal, and Gonzalo Plata is with Ecuador.
