After 20 years, the first-ever Real Madrid presidential election is just around the corner, with Florentino Perez set to face stiff competition from Enrique Riquelme.
The Spanish businessman confirmed his candidacy in the Real Madrid election recently and is ready to take on Perez.
Perez, though, is a shrewd operator and knows exactly what he needs to do in order to succeed. According to Miguel Serrano (h/t Defensa Central), he is banking on three particular factors in order to win the election.
Perez’s first big lever is the appointment of Jose Mourinho. The Real Madrid president believes Mourinho has what it takes to bring Real Madrid back to glory and stabilise a fledgling dressing room.

Mourinho knows Real Madrid inside and out and has the experience to bring back cohesion into the team. His appointment, though, is getting delayed due to the Real Madrid presidential election.
Perhaps the biggest trump card Perez has at his disposal is Toni Kroos. Real Madrid are working on the return of the German midfielder, who is adored by fans.
Kroos is a huge admirer of Perez and is likely to accept a call from the Real Madrid president anytime. His return to the technical setup could go a long way in boosting the confidence of Real Madrid club members.

Finally, Perez is looking to woo the Real Madrid club members by making a statement signing this summer. His priority target is Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.
The Argentine has been highly linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu this summer and his potential arrival could go a long way in solving the club’s midfield problems.
Chelsea, though, are not too keen on selling, meaning Real Madrid may have to pay a fortune. The other option is Rodri, but he turns 30 next month and won’t be a long-term purchase.
