Phil Foden is relishing this weekend’s mouth-watering clash with Arsenal calling it a ‘massive, massive game’.

Foden is bang in form after standout performances in back-to-back victories for City over Manchester United and Napoli this past week.

And completing a terrific trio of matches is an encounter with the Gunners on Sunday in a 16:30 (UK) kick-off at the Emirates Stadium.

Foden knows Mikel Arteta’s men will offer a big challenge but it’s one he and the team are relishing.

“Massive game, massive game,” he said.

“We obviously know how difficult Arsenal is, they don’t make it easy for us.

“Similar to Napoli, they are so hard to break down, but hopefully we can keep patient and pick our moments at the right times.

“It’s going to be a very good game and a good watch.”

Foden struggled for fitness and form last season as the Blues failed to win the Premier League title for the first time in five seasons.

With the new campaign starting afresh, he wasn’t involved in the opening day win at Wolves but did come on as a late sub in the frustrating home opener against Tottenham.

The England international then missed the Brighton loss before coming back with a bang in victories over United and Napoli, scoring in the Premier League derby and setting up Erling Haaland for the opener in the Champions League triumph over Antonio Conte’s men.

The 25-year-old says he’s feeling good as he looks to hit the levels that saw him named the Premier League Player of the Year two seasons ago.

“Obviously last year my performances weren’t what I’m used to, but I feel like every player goes through those dips, it’s just about how you react,” he continued.

“I’ve been as hungry as ever to get back in the team, show what I’m about, and try and get back to my best.

“I think I’ve become a lot more creative this year in the two games that I’ve played and with the likes of Kev [Kevin De Bruyne] going, someone needs to step up and create more chances and hopefully I can be that man and I think I’ve showed that.

“A lot of players played with a lot of niggles and last year, I picked up a lot that I had to play with and it’s not an excuse why I wasn’t at my best, but it was a full team problem.

“I don’t think everyone wasn’t up to the standards, but I feel like now there’s fresh minds, fresh players and we’re ready to start again.”
