Former Chelsea striker must have been watching a different game after ludicrous analysis

One former Chelsea striker must have been watching a different game to me last night when Chelsea beat Lincoln City 2-1.

The Blues advanced to the next round of The Carabao Cup by beating League One opposition, but the result was not the full story, far from it.

EXCLUSIVE! Cole Palmer now has NEW injury and will be out for a set time!

Lincoln were the better side, had more of a threat, were more up for it, played with more aggression, and did not deserve to lose at all. They even went in 1-0 up and you had a thought that they might actually do it, if not for a very angry half time team talk by Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea then came out in the second half, played a bit better and then scored two quick goals to put themselves ahead in the game and eventually then see it through, although only just.

Lincoln had the long throw as a weapon and were bombarding the Chelsea box all game with those and corners. Chelsea could not handle it at all. Filip Jorgensen was flapping at and missing everything, constantly putting his defenders in trouble. And there was nobody winning the ball at the back for Chelsea, with Wesley Fofana winning just 17% of his aerial duels all game.

What game was Sutton watching?

Jorrel Hato defends against Lincoln

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton saw something completely different to me, and that stats!

As cited on X, Sutton said:

“Although Lincoln had free-kicks and throw-ins, I thought Fofana, especially, excelled in terms of attacking the ball inside his own box…

“It’s just a pity from Lincoln’s perspective that they couldn’t put [Filip] Jorgensen under a little bit more pressure. That was down to the quality of the Chelsea centre-halves as well. When balls were thrown in, they defended the box really, really well.”

I’ll have what he’s smoking

Honestly, what a ludicrous analysis that I don’t think even one person would agree with. He was surely not watching the same game as me…
