Former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot turns down Netherlands job | OneFootball

Arne Slot will not be the new head coach of the Netherlands national team. As reported by VI, the former Liverpool manager would prefer to be a club head coach than take control of the national team. Slot left Liverpool after just two years in charge, with him having won the Premier League during his first season. Slot was considered a leading candidate for the Netherlands role after Ronald Koeman left following a disappointing World Cup campaign.

Slot has reportedly already turned down one offer to return to club football. Saudi Arabian side Al Ahly offered him a chance to take over, but the former Feyenoord and Liverpool man turned them down.

Many now expect that the KNVB will turn to Michael Reiziger to be the new head coach. Reiziger already works within the international set up, leading the U21 side. He also has experience in club football, having been coach of Jong Ajax. During his playing days Reiziger played for Barcelona, Middlesbrough and PSV.
