Four academy wonderkids set to make matchday squad vs Villa | OneFootball

Manchester United will be without four of their key performers for arguably their toughest test of the Premier League campaign so far.

Amad, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui have all departed for AFCON, while Casemiro is set to serve his one-match suspension.

The Ivorian and Cameroonian will be huge misses as the duo have combined to devastating effect, scoring over 25 per cent of the team’s goals in the Premier League.

And Casemiro has started all but three games before this, with United losing all three. The Brazilian also has four goals to his name.

Amorim set to turn to the academy

With Harry Maguire, and Matthijs de Ligt sidelined, the squad is already stretched thin, and Ruben Amorim could turn to the academy to solve this conundrum as per Centredevils.

Shea Lacey, who missed out on a spot in the matchday squad against Bournemouth, is all set to return to the bench, with Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fredricson, and Bendito Mantato set to join him.

Fletcher, who can play in midfield and even out wide, will make the matchday squad for the second time this season, after his appearance against Tottenham Hotspur.

Mantato’s inclusion is the most exciting for fans given his ability to don the Amad role at right wingback.

A lot will depend on how Amorim sets his team up — whether in a back three with wingbacks, or he continues his recent back-four experiment.

Villa have won nine on the trot in all competitions, which suggests it will be an uphill task for Amorim’s young Red Devils.
