France confirmed their place at the 2026 World Cup with a commanding 4-0 win over Ukraine at the Parc des Princes.
After a tight first half, the breakthrough came in the 55th minute when Michael Olise was fouled inside the box. Kylian Mbappé calmly converted the resulting penalty with a Panenka, sending goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin the wrong way.
Ukraine had earlier hoped for a penalty of their own, but VAR upheld the referee’s decision to play on.
Mbappé came close to adding more before Olise doubled the lead with a composed finish, controlling N'Golo Kanté’s pass and curling the ball home.
Mbappé later scored again, marking the 400th goal of his senior career and moving to 55 goals for France, edging closer to Olivier Giroud’s national record.
In the 88th minute, Mbappé set up Hugo Ekitiké, who calmly slotted through Trubin’s legs to complete the scoring.
Ukraine struggled to create chances, registering only one shot on goal all game, leaving France to celebrate a dominant and efficient victory as they secured qualification with ease.
