Félix Correia is emerging as one of the sensations of the Ligue 1 season so far, after the Portuguese midfielder scored again at the weekend to give Lille a 1-0 victory over Angers in France.
Another Portuguese was also decisive with the only goal of the game, as Gonçalo Ramos proved the matchwinner as champions Paris Saint-Germain left it late to defeat Nice 1-0 in the capital.
Correia’s strike on the stroke of half time, which was beautifully taken following nice set-up by Lille’s teenage sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi, gave Lille their third win in four matches. For Correia, an impressive record of three goals and four assists from his 11 matches in Ligue 1, following a summer move from Gil Vicente.
Meanwhile, at the top of the table, champions PSG just about kept their 2-point advantage in 1st place thanks to a last-gasp 1-0 win over Nice. Substitute Gonçalo Ramos was the hero, scoring in the last second of four added minutes, having entered the action on 72 minutes as the European champions searched for a breakthrough.
The goal came on Ramos’ 100th appearance for the club, with the strike his 38th in PSG colours – an impressive feat given 57 of those showing have been off the bench. “It was a special game and a special day for me and that goal was the best way for me to finish it,” Ramos told reporters. “We all tried to score that goal and we played very well in the last few minutes of the game, but it took some instinct and teamwork to finish it off properly.”
Manager Luis Enrique added: “It’s great for Gonçalo and the whole team,” said Luis Enrique. “Playing 100 games for Paris is big for him, and we’re happy. He did his job well for the 15-20 minutes he played, then scoring that goal is important for his confidence.”
