France miss out on World Cup final

France’s dream of a third straight World Cup final is over after a 2-0 loss to Spain in Tuesday’s semi-final. Dayot Upamecano played the full 90 minutes in Dallas, while Michael Olise lasted 72 minutes as the Bayern duo were unable to prevent defeat.

Mikel Oyarzabal’s penalty put Spain ahead after 22 minutes. Pedro Porro then doubled the advantage just before the hour. France struggled to find their flow in attack and create any meaningful chances.

Third-place match on Saturday

However, the World Cup isn’t over for Les Bleus, who will play the third-place play-off in Miami on Saturday (23:00 CEST) against the loser of Wednesday’s second semi-final between England and Argentina.
