Inter Milan duo Benjamin Pavard and Denzel Dumfries will reportedly earn their first starts of the campaign this weekend against Lecce.

Both players are considered pillars in Simone Inzaghi’s tactical scheme.

However, due to their late returns from their summer vacations, others were supposedly in better condition to start in the Serie A opener against Genoa.

Hence, Inzaghi gave the node to Yann Bisseck at the right side of the defensive trio. Meanwhile, Matteo Darmian started as a right wingback.

But according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Pavard and Dumfries will regain their usual starting berths this Saturday.

The Nerazzurri will host Lecce at San Siro on Saturday night. This will be the club’s first home contest of the season.

The Roman newspaper is thus expecting at least a couple of changes to the starting lineup that settled for a 2-2 draw against Genoa.

Dumfries made an appearance in the second half against the Grifone. But the source expects him to edge Darmian for a starting role this time around.

The 23-year-old was enjoying a fine outing against Genoa last week. But sadly for the German, he gave away a last-ditch spot-kick due to a handball, allowing the Grifone to escape with a point.

The source also tips Piotr Zielinski to earn his first call-up as an Inter player.

The Polish midfielder missed the action last week due to a muscular injury. However, he should start on the bench this weekend.

On the other hand, Stefan de Vrij and Tajon Buchanan remain on the treatment table.
