According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica are willing to listen to offers for Franjo Ivanovic in the summer window, only one year after paying 22.8 million euros to Union St. Gilloise. Despite a disappointing season, the club still hope to recover part of that outlay.

The 2026 World Cup is viewed internally as potentially decisive for the 22-year-old. A strong showing with Croatia could lift his valuation and shift the market picture.

José Mourinho wants a centre forward with a different profile and already has a target, a view he has relayed to the Benfica hierarchy. He is seeking someone more physical, more positional and stronger in finishing, which opens the way for Ivanovic to leave on loan or permanently.

Ivanovic began the campaign as a starter under Bruno Lage and kept his place in Mourinho’s early matches, before his role diminished. Recent outings offered encouragement, notably a brace against Moreirense and a good display versus Famalicão.

Mourinho’s recent comments resonated in Croatia. He said he would very much like the striker to be called up for the World Cup and believes he deserves it, remarks that quickly stirred debate in the player’s homeland.
