Frank Lampard reveals what Coventry City are “not happy” with after Southampton loss
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has outlined what his side were lacking when they were beaten 2-1 by Southampton at the CBS Arena on Saturday.
The Sky Blues remain top of the Championship table despite their defeat to the Saints, but they must get back to winning ways with just eight games remaining.
Lampard's men are seven points clear of second-place Middlesbrough, who failed to fully capitalise on Coventry's loss, instead drawing 1-1 with Bristol City.
The Sky Blues travel to Swansea City this Saturday, and a win over the Swans would mark a fourth consecutive away victory.

Coventry began 2026 in poor form, leaving supporters worried that they would be beaten to the Championship title by Middlesbrough, and could even fall out of the automatic promotion spots.
However, the Sky Blues subsequently enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten streak, including six victories, before Saturday's defeat to Southampton.
Furthermore, second-place Boro have managed just two wins in their last seven Championship games, helping Coventry strengthen their grip on the title.
Meanwhile, following his side's defeat to Southampton, Lampard told the Coventry Observer: "We normally have more energy and more variation in our game.
"We’re not happy with the goals we conceded. You can’t get that wrong because you won’t win games of football, and we weren’t clinical at the top end.
"In the end, we nearly nick a draw because these boys won’t stop, and they go to the end. By our own standards, were we as good as we want to be? No, but that’s football at this stage of the season, you just want to try and get a result."
Southampton established a 2-0 lead thanks to second-half goals from Flynn Downes and Kuryu Matsuki, while Coventry showed fighting spirit as Victor Torp scored from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute.
The Saints are now just three points adrift of sixth-place Wrexham following an impressive 10-game unbeaten streak in the Championship, which has included wins over the likes of Watford and Leicester City.
Tonda Eckert has successfully reignited Southampton's hopes of landing an immediate Premier League return, following the poor start to the season they endured under former boss Will Still.

Coventry's defeat to Southampton has not proven costly to their Championship title hopes, thanks to Middlesbrough's current poor run of form.
However, when the Sky Blues have suffered rare defeats in recent months, they have struggled to swiftly bounce back from those setbacks.
For instance, Lampard's men were beaten 2-0 by Ipswich Town on 29 December, and failed to win again until 17 January, instead drawing 1-1 with Charlton Athletic in the Championship before being beaten by Birmingham City and Stoke City in the second tier and the FA Cup, respectively.
Coventry then suffered a 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers on 31 January, in the game which immediately followed their 2-1 loss against Norwich City.
It is vital that the Sky Blues avoid that trend now that they have been beaten by Southampton, especially if Middlesbrough return to winning ways when they travel to Blackburn Rovers this Saturday.
