Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank faced the media at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong ahead of Thursday’s highly anticipated north London derby against Arsenal.
In a wide-ranging press conference, the Dane addressed summer transfers, squad depth, injuries, and the future of captain Son Heung-min. Defender Micky van de Ven also spoke, praising young teammate Luka Vušković and reflecting on his first full pre-season at Spurs.

Amid speculation surrounding Son’s future and questions about his best position, Frank reiterated the South Korean’s enduring value to the club.
“I think everyone knows that Son has been one of the best players at Tottenham in the past 10 years. I think he's been hugely successful from the left wing. I also think he's had some fantastic games down the middle as a number nine. So it's important to have players who can play in more than one position and it's about having your best players on the pitch and available.
"So the thing about Sonny is that he will always score goals and it's just about getting him in those situations.”
Frank acknowledged Tottenham’s attacking depth while hinting that more transfer activity could follow after a failed move for Morgan Gibbs-White.
“I think first and foremost we have some depth in the squad. Richarlison I see him more as a striker who can play to the side. We need different skillsets.”
Pressed on areas he would like to strengthen, Frank remained tight-lipped:
“That is something I would like to keep private of course. We're aware where we maybe want to strengthen the squad in general. Kudus has come in and shown his quality already. Of course we are looking.”
With Destiny Udogie currently sidelined, Frank gave a cautious update on the full-back’s condition:
“Destiny got a knee injury that we're assessing at the moment. When we know more we will update more.”
Speaking about the significance of the Asia tour, Frank highlighted its importance both commercially and culturally:
“The tours are good in many ways. It's great for the club to come out here and for all of us to experience the backing we have from our fans.”
Young winger Mikey Moore could be set for a loan spell, with Frank stressing the need for regular game time.
“It is very important. Mikey is a big talent. I’m really excited about his future here at Tottenham. I think for all players but especially younger players they need consistent first-team football into their bodies. I think if we can find the right option we will do that.”

Dutch defender Micky van de Ven shared his thoughts on finally having a full pre-season at the club:
“I didn't really have a pre-season at Tottenham before. I don't approach it differently. It's more time to work on my body and prepare it for the Premier League, Champions League and all the games coming up.”
Van de Ven also reserved high praise for 18-year-old centre-back Luka Vušković:
“Luka is only 18 years old but what you can see from how he behaves on the pitch and off the pitch, you can see he is a really talented football player. He has a lot of qualities and I think he has shown in the last two friendlies that he has a lot of big and strong points where even our centre-backs can learn from. He's done unbelievable at this point and hopefully he can do way more for us and hopefully you can see way more from him.”
Tottenham continue their pre-season preparations with a challenging fixture against fierce rivals Arsenal this Thursday. All eyes will be on Son, new arrivals, and emerging talents like Vušković as Frank looks to shape a competitive squad ahead of the new season.
