Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is likely to stay beyond this summer following the appointment of new manager Cristian Chivu (h/t La Gazzetta dello Sport).

The Italian midfielder was linked with an exit from the San Siro following his confrontation with former boss Simone Inzaghi.

Frattesi had a heated argument with Inzaghi after the Champions League final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. He was left on the bench for the entire game.

Several Italian clubs have expressed their interest in signing the former Sassuolo star, whose price tag has been set at €40 million.

However, Chivu has promised Frattesi a prominent role next season.

The 25-year-old has struggled to secure a regular starting spot at Inter, although he has consistently proven his quality with limited opportunities.

He was Inter’s hero when he came off the bench to score the decisive goal against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg this season.

With Henrikh Mkhitaryan nearing the end of his career, Frattesi can hope for a fresh start in his career under Chivu heading into the new season.

However, the former Roma star might face competition from Piotr Zielinski and new signing Petar Sucic for a place in the starting XI.

Frattesi has a great chance to impress Chivu in the upcoming Club World Cup, with Inter commencing their campaign against Monterrey next week.

Hakan Calhanoglu has been linked with an exit this summer, with Galatasaray emerging as a suitors.

Inter are unwilling to sell the Turkish midfielder for no less than €40 million.

The Nerazzurri have also identified Parma duo Ange-Yoan Bonny and Giovanni Leoni as potential summer targets.
