Mads Bidstrup leaves for Lyon

Mads Bidstrup’s three-year spell with FC Red Bull Salzburg has come to an end. The Danish midfielder is leaving the Red Bulls to move to France's Ligue 1, signing for Olympique Lyonnais.

The 25-year-old midfielder arrived in Salzburg in the summer of 2023 from English Premier League side Brentford. Thanks to his personality, fighting spirit, and approachable nature, he quickly became a favourite - both within the squad and among the Red Bulls' fans

After 116 appearances, four goals, and five assists, the Dane's time here is drawing to a close. He is to join Olympique Lyonnais, who finished fourth in the French top flight last season and were also one of our opponents in last season's UEFA Europa League.

At the end of last season, Mads Bidstrup and his representatives approached us expressing a desire for a transfer. Ultimately, the discussions with Mads and Olympique Lyonnais progressed so positively that we agreed to the move.
