Giacomo Raspadori could be Roma’s first signing of the winter transfer window.
Gian Piero Gasperini has been following him for several years and could now welcome him to the capital.
Negotiations with Atlético Madrid, however, have been far from easy, with Roma always pushing for a loan with an option to buy.
The Spanish club pushed for the obligation to buy, but in the last few hours they have backtracked.
In fact, ‘Jack’ is expected to leave Spain under the terms imposed by Roma.
As reported by Sport, the deal is very close to being finalized, but the newspaper has revealed a behind-the-scenes story.
Diego Simeone, in fact, isn’t looking to permanently separate from Raspadori.
The connection between the player and the Argentine coach hasn’t blossomed this season, but ‘Cholo’ believes the Italian attacking midfielder is an important asset for the future.
The Colchoneros have therefore agreed to a loan with an option to buy, as per their coach’s wishes.
Despite the involvement of other clubs, Raspadori is expected to join the Giallorossi.
Gasp hopes to have him at least on the bench, either for the midweek match against Lecce on January 6th or the match against Sassuolo on the 10th.
After signing the Italian attacking midfielder, Roma will pounce on Joshua Zirkzee.
