Erling Haaland is once again making headlines – this time not because of his goals, but because of his future. After Manchester City’s early Champions League exit, there are growing indications that the Norwegian is thinking about leaving. FC Bayern is also being mentioned in this context

The Sky Blues‘ starting position is tense. The clear knockout against Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the Champions League has left its mark, and they are also lagging behind their own standards in the Premier League. According to the latest reports from England, Haaland’s frustration is growing – and with it his willingness to consider a move

Haaland is apparently considering his next move

According to reports, the 25-year-old has even suggested internally that he is considering possible offers in the summer. In addition to clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern are also being touted as potential suitors

The link to Munich is by no means new. Bayern had already made intensive efforts to acquire Haaland in the summer of 2022. At the time, former sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed several personal meetings with the attacker. A transfer was considered a realistic option at one point

Ultimately, however, the deal fell through due to the financial framework conditions. The total package would have amounted to up to 250 million euros – a sum that was not feasible for Munich

Even if Haaland is still one of the best strikers in the world, a move to Säbener Straße is hardly conceivable at the moment. The main reason for this is the current squad structure

Bayern have a top striker in Harry Kane, who has been even more efficient than Haaland this season. While the Englishman has scored an impressive 52 goals in 49 games, Haaland has scored 37 in 42 games – a rather poor record by his standards

There is also the financial dimension: with an estimated market value of around 200 million euros, a transfer would go beyond FC Bayern’s financial limits

A possible departure of Haaland could gain momentum, especially if the coaching issue at Manchester City comes to a head. Pep Guardiola is also being linked with a departure – a scenario that could bring additional momentum to the personnel issue

However, the situation remains clear for FC Bayern: as attractive as a player like Haaland is, there is currently neither the sporting need nor the financial scope for such a mega-transfer.
