Fulham ended their Premier League campaign with a solid 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Craven Cottage, finishing the season on a positive note in front of their home supporters.
The hosts took control of the game midway through the first half when Kevin’s free-kick rattled the crossbar and Issa Diop reacted quickest to head in the rebound. It was a simple finish, but one that reflected Fulham’s sharper start.
Newcastle had their moments, especially on the break, with Bruno Guimarães pulling the strings in midfield and Jacob Murphy providing some danger down the flanks. However, clear chances were limited, and Bernd Leno remained alert when called upon, keeping out a couple of efforts before the break.
After half-time, the match drifted into a more subdued rhythm, with both sides making changes but struggling to find any real tempo. Newcastle’s best opportunity came and went when Joe Willock tried his luck from distance, but his effort never seriously troubled Leno.
The game was eventually put beyond doubt by Tom Cairney, who came off the bench to produce a moment of real quality. Picking up space outside the box, he rifled a brilliant strike into the top corner to seal the points.
Fulham comfortably saw out the closing stages, ending their season with a win that lifted them above Newcastle in the table and secured an 11th-place finish.
