Spurs make the short trip Craven Cottage this afternoon to face London rivals Fulham.

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to contend with following their midweek win over AZ Alkmaar, a rarity for Ange Postecoglou this campaign.

Form

Fulham: WLWDL

Fulham are still in the mix for European qualification despite a 2-1 defeat to Brighton last Saturday. The Cottagers sit in 10th position, but a victory today would see them go within three points of fifth-placed Manchester City.

Their recent form has been inconsistent with crucial victories over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest overshadowed by home defeats to Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Immediately after the upcoming international break Fulham have a London derby FA Cup quarter-final tie with Crystal Palace to look forward to.

Spurs: WLLDW

Spurs’ dreams of ending their trophy drought remain alive as they progressed to the last eight of the Europa League on Thursday. Wilson Odobert was the hero for the Lilywhites as his first two goals for the club helped them to a 3-1 triumph over AZ Alkmaar.

German outfit Frankfurt awaits them in the next round, with the first leg scheduled for the 10th April.

Their position in the Premier League still leaves a lot to be desired and even a win today would see them stay in 13th place.

Spurs 1-1 Fulham, Premier League, 1st December 2024

Ten-man Fulham held on in the closing stages to earn a hard-fought point away to Tottenham.

The first presentable chance of the afternoon fell to Spurs skipper Heung-min Son. After being teed up by Timo Werner, the South Korean’s finish lack conviction and was saved by the feet of Bernd Leno.

A dominant period for Fulham saw Fraser Forster’s goal come under siege. The 6’7 goalkeeper was at full stretch to thwart Raul Jimenez’s volley before Alex Iwobi smashed the crossbar.

It was then the hosts’ turn to be denied by the woodwork. James Maddison’s cleverly disguised free-kick rolled underneath the wall and clipped the upright.

Shortly after the interval, Ange Postecoglou’s side put themselves in front through Brennan Johnson. Spurs’ top scorer was left unmarked and, after being picked out by Werner, the forward volleyed into the back of the net.

Marco Silva called upon his bench to supply him with the added impetus the Cottagers needed to level matters. Substitute Tom Cairney made an impact within five minutes of entering the field. Iwobi pulled the ball back to his skipper who unleashed an unstoppable sweeping effort beyond the reach of Forster.

However with only seven minutes remaining, Cairney received his marching orders from referee Darren Bond. The official had initially awarded a yellow card following the midfielder’s challenge on Dejan Kulusevski. But replays showed Fulham skipper’s studs firmly connect with the Swede’s calf and a red card was subsequently brandished.

Tottenham couldn’t capitalise on the numerical advantage in the remaining minutes and the spoils were shared.
