Barcelona have received a significant financial boost after agreeing a new sponsorship deal with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to Reuters (via AS), the African nation will pay more than €40 million to feature its tourism campaign on Barcelona’s official clothing and media platforms.

The deal, signed on June 29, allows the Democratic Republic of Congo to display its tourism promotion logo on the back of the men’s and women’s first-team training and warm-up shirts.

This agreement is part of a strategy by the Congolese government to promote the country as a travel destination and attract more international visitors.

The partnership will last for four seasons, with Barcelona set to receive between €10 million and €11.5 million per year.

In total, the deal will bring over €40 million into the club’s accounts, which is an important figure given the financial pressures Barcelona have faced in recent years.

Details of the deal

As per the reports, the sponsorship does not stop at just the training kits. The agreement also includes the presence of the Congo tourism brand in multiple Barcelona marketing outlets.

This will involve advertisements inside the Camp Nou and other club facilities, mentions in Barça’s official magazine, and visibility in the club’s annual financial report.

Barcelona have been actively searching for new revenue streams as they continue to recover from recent financial struggles.

The partnership with the Democratic Republic of Congo comes at a crucial time and is expected to help the club maintain stability while also opening doors to new global markets.

By promoting Congo’s tourism through one of the most recognised football clubs in the world, both sides are set to benefit – Barcelona financially, and Congo in terms of international exposure.
