Celtic head back to Rugby Park on Sunday, a venue forever tied to one of the club’s most memorable title-clinching afternoons. In April 2012, Neil Lennon’s side sealed the Scottish Premiership crown in breathtaking fashion, sweeping Kilmarnock aside with a ruthless 6-0 victory - the first of an unforgettable nine-in-a-row for the Celts.

Needing just a single point to get over the line, the Hoops wasted no time. Charlie Mulgrew set the tone early, thundering in a header from Ki Sung-Yueng’s corner after only eight minutes. Moments later, he was the provider, swinging in a cross that Glenn Loovens guided past Cammy Bell.

Mulgrew added a second of his own before the interval, cutting inside and bending a low shot beyond the goalkeeper. Gary Hooper then volleyed in a spectacular fourth on the stroke of half-time, leaving the Celtic support already celebrating a title returned to Paradise.

Kilmarnock briefly threatened after the restart, but Lennon’s men were never in danger of letting the moment slip. Late on, Joe Ledley broke clear to lift in a composed finish, before Hooper struck again with a crisp drive to complete the scoring.

It was Celtic’s first championship in four years and Lennon’s first as manager, secured five matches from the end of the season after overturning a 15-point deficit earlier in the campaign. The scale of the performance, and the joy that followed, made it a day that lives long in the memory.
