Corinthians’ 2-1 defeat to Bahia on Thursday night saw centre-backs Gabriel Paulista and Gustavo Henrique start together for the first time this season.

They had previously shared the pitch only after a change, in the 1-1 draw with Santos the number three replaced midfielder Raniele while Gustavo had already begun that match. According to Meu Timao, this comes amid a reshaping of the defence.

Cacá is in a return-to-play phase after injury, and João Pedro Tchoca travelled to Italy to sign for Torino, a move that could yet be cancelled.

The club are looking for another defender following the youngster’s exit, with no further promotions expected. Coach Dorival Júnior is also seeking additions to further consolidate the squad.

For the Supercopa final, Gustavo Henrique is virtually assured of starting, with Dorival to choose between André Ramalho and Gabriel Paulista as his partner.

The meeting with Flamengo kicks off at 16:00 on Sunday at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília. The winners will be crowned Supercampeão do Brasil.
