Gabriel Paulista debuts as Corinthians lose 3-0 at Red Bull Bragantino | OneFootball

Corinthians lost 3-0 to Red Bull Bragantino at Estádio Municipal de Bragança Paulista on Thursday, in the Campeonato Paulista second round. The match featured a debut for defender Gabriel Paulista.

According to Meu Timao, the 35-year-old started and completed 90 minutes, delivering nine ball recoveries, four ground duels won, three clearances, two interceptions and two blocks.

He signed at the start of the year as the club’s first reinforcement, arriving on a free after ending his contract with Besiktas of Türkiye.

His last competitive outing had come on 23 December in the Turkish league, when Besiktas beat Fenerbahçe and coach Sergen Yalcin introduced him in the 39th minute of the second half.

Despite the gap without playing, Dorival Júnior selected him in a rotated line-up, resting regulars for Sunday’s Majestoso. He partnered João Pedro Tchoca at centre-back, with Cacá filling in at right-back and Hugo Farias on the left.

Corinthians host São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena on Sunday at 16:00 in the third round. The expectation is that André Ramalho and Gustavo Henrique will form the starting central pairing, with Gabriel beginning on the bench.
