Gabriel Pirani has joined San Diego from DC United on loan to the end of the year, starting a new chapter in MLS.
Diario Do Peixe reports a 350,000 dollar fee, with DC United potentially disbursing a further 650,000 dollars if performance targets are met, and an option to extend until 2027.
He said he is delighted, reflecting on almost three years at DC United that aided his development, and arrives highly motivated to help San Diego meet its objectives.
He switches from the Eastern Conference to the Western Conference. His MLS spell began in July 2023 on loan from Santos, and his form across 10 games led to a permanent move at the start of 2024.
In 2024 he played 36 games, scoring six goals with one assist. He added eight goals and three assists in 29 outings the following season, then made eight appearances in 2026 before the World Cup pause.
Born in Penápolis, Pirani spent more than a decade in Santos’ academy, debuted in 2021 and made over 70 senior appearances. He had a 2022 loan at Cuiabá, playing 10 games and scoring once.
After returning, he joined Fluminense in 2023, scoring the winner against Flamengo to clinch the Taça Guanabara and later helping secure the Campeonato Carioca. He was part of the Libertadores-winning squad and won Pan American Games gold with Brazil Under-23s in Santiago.
