Andrée Jeglertz’s side booked their spot in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup after seeing off WSL2 table-toppers, Birmingham City, in what was a hard-fought victory both with and without the ball.

There were four changes made by Jeglertz coming into our quarter-final match-up with Khiara Keating, Iman Beney, Leila Ouahabi and Lauara Coombs coming in for Ayaka Yamashita, Kerstin Casparij, Rebecca Knaak and Vivianne Miedema.

City raced into an early lead after just nine minutes through Bunny Shaw, and while they failed to add to their lead after that, it was a professional display that saw Birmingham fail to test Kheara Keating all game.

Shaw’s goal came after some intricate one-two play from Iman Yui Hasegawa and Iman Beney, with the Switzerland international playing in an undefendable through ball from out wide to Shaw, who made no mistake with her first-time finish beyond the on-rushing Lucy Thomas.

Our win against the WSL2 side means we will travel away to face Chelsea in the semi-final of the FA Cup after the international break, with both sides having one win apiece when having faced off against each other in the WSL this season.
