Gennaro Gattuso inherits Lazio with a cup-final sheen masking a ninth-place finish and months of discord. He took the job in late May with eyes open.
According to The Laziali, the club face a net-zero transfer summer after Serie A cut its cost-to-revenue cap to 70 per cent, so sales must fund any buys.
Ivan Provedel embodies the shift. The 32-year-old kept 11 clean sheets in 27 games before a March shoulder injury, but Christos Mandas returns from Bournemouth and 21-year-old Edoardo Motta impressed.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports Inter have agreed personal terms with Provedel on a three-year deal at €1.5 million annually. A €2-5 million fee is discussed, with Inter mindful his contract expires next summer.
Beyond that, Alessio Romagnoli has joined Al-Sadd. Pedro, Elseid Hysaj and Toma Basic have exited as contracts expired, while Luca Pellegrini, Manuel Lazzari and Matteo Cancellieri are being linked away.
Mario Gila has drawn Bayern Munich interest, with Lazio open to selling but wary of clauses complicating a deal. Gattuso is set to favour a 4-3-3 and wants a more athletic, pressing midfield.
His 25 May appointment is a two-year deal worth €1.5 million per season, confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and later detailed by Il Corriere dello Sport. He has kept Luigi Riccio and fitness coach Bruno Giovanni Dominici.
Medicals start 10 July, pre-season on 13 July, so early signings would help. This window will set the project’s ceiling under net-zero, where mistakes are costly and momentum depends on balance.
