GdS: Conceicao weighing up Emerson decision ahead of Genoa fixture – the reasoning | OneFootball

Emerson Royal has just returned for AC Milan, but there is a decision to make about his playing time in the immediate future.

It is laughable how Emerson’s January went, however, it was very Milan – at least for the current era. After being bought in the summer, the Rossoneri considered a sale in January and even had an exit lined up for the Brazilian.

However, on the eve of his transfer, the right-back was selected to play against Girona in the Champions League, where he was injured in the first minutes of the game, suspending his season, and his transfer.

Now, almost four months on, Emerson comes into a team that is transformed, thanks to Sergio Conceicao’s new formation, and perhaps, there could be a way to redemption for him in this new system, considering it would lessen his defensive responsibilities.

With that said, Conceicao must not be too eager with any experiments. As Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News) states, the club do not want to risk his injury, and whilst he is back in group training, there is an element of risk to throwing him in the deep end.

So, a decision will be made about his eligibility this weekend, and whether he will be called up. Alternatively, he could be kept recovering and training, in an attempt to avoid a relapse of the injury.
